Becker revealed the reason why Djokovic contacted him to coach him in 2013
During the show La Revuelta, Boris Becker discussed the period when he coached Novak Djokovic, which lasted from 2014 to 2016.
The Serb had contacted him at the end of the 2013 season: "I was surprised that he called me, he called me in October 2013, when he lost his number one spot to Rafael Nadal, so he was only number two.
His agent called me and asked if I could imagine coaching him. He said he was no longer number one and had lost two Grand Slam finals to Nadal (at Roland Garros and the US Open)."
Djokovic subsequently regained his world number one position on July 7, 2014 with Becker.
