Berdych before Spain: "We're extending our rivalry with Ferrer"
The Czech Republic arrives in Bologna with a strong message: "We can win the Davis Cup."
On the sidelines of the clash between the Czech Republic and Spain (November 20), Tomas Berdych reignites his rivalry with David Ferrer, but this time from the bench.
Ahead of the confrontation, Tomas Berdych set the scene: the Czech Republic has never been stronger. The captain, calm but excited by the challenge, acknowledges that Spain remains the "toughest team of the eight" and wants to extend his rivalry with his former colleague: David Ferrer:
"Everything has changed for David (Ferrer) and me; in 2012 we were running on the court and now we are sitting on the bench. It will be the big contrast. It's a good challenge and a duel I'm looking forward to.
We probably have to face the toughest team of the eight, so it will be difficult. But it would be nice to have a new rivalry with David, because in our careers, we were 8-8 in our head-to-heads, so now we're starting over."
And Berdych doesn't hide it: this group composed of Lehecka, Mensik, and also Machac, wants everything, right now.
"All the boys are hungry to win the trophy. It's the best way to have a strong team. I believe a lot in this team, and they have the possibility to win the trophy through their will."
