Berrettini assesses his current level: "My tennis has always been there, I need more consistency"
Berrettini gaining momentum. Selected by his captain Filippo Volandri to face Austria in the quarter-finals, the world No. 56 was kept on for the semi-final against Belgium. Against Raphaël Collignon, the Italian showed solid form to win in two sets, putting his country on track for a third consecutive final. In a press conference, the 29-year-old player assessed his current level of play.
"Right now, I feel good, I'm more confident, I'm training very well. When I came back after not playing for a month and a half (between Rome and Wimbledon), I started training with the best players on the tour.
I felt as if I had never taken a break. I believe my tennis is well present, it has always been there. But tennis is a mix of several factors: confidence, physical and mental condition, feelings during a tournament, etc. It's no secret that I always struggle a bit more indoors during the end of the season. I like playing on clay and grass.
This year, I missed this entire part of the season. I was able to show that my tennis hadn't disappeared when I played against Djokovic, Zverev, Draper, Fritz, and De Minaur. All those matches were positive for me. I just need more consistency. The truth is, I never stopped believing in my level," Berrettini assured Punto de Break.
