Bonzi adds to the wave of withdrawals for the ATP 250 tournament in Winston-Salem
Benjamin Bonzi fell in the round of 16 at the Cincinnati Masters 1000. After victories against Matteo Arnaldi, Lorenzo Musetti, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Frenchman lost to Félix Auger-Aliassime.
This should give him plenty of confidence ahead of the US Open, which begins on August 24. Especially since the Frenchman, who was set to compete in the ATP 250 tournament in Winston-Salem next week, has ultimately withdrawn.
Mackenzie McDonald benefits from the withdrawal of the world No. 63 to enter the main draw directly. The 29-year-old player is the ninth to officially pull out of the tournament taking place in North Carolina.
In recent days, several players had done the same: Fils, Michelsen, Moutet, Marozsan, Tien, Etcheverry, Altmaier, and Djere. On the French side, three players are still registered: Muller, Mpetshi Perricard, and Rinderknech, while Gaston has also joined the draw in recent hours.
