Bublik ends Cazaux's run in Gstaad and reaches his first clay-court final
Alexander Bublik continues to enjoy success on clay following his quarterfinal run at Roland Garros.
Competing in Gstaad for the first time in his career, the Kazakh reached the semifinals without dropping a set, securing clean wins against Shevchenko and Comesana. In contrast, his opponent Arthur Cazaux had to battle through three-set victories in each round against Basilashvili, Etcheverry, and Kym.
With 34 winners, 11 aces, and an 86% first-serve points won, Bublik dominated Cazaux 6-1, 7-5 in just over an hour.
In his first career clay-court final, Bublik will face world No. 109 Juan Manuel Cerundolo tomorrow. Cazaux, eliminated after a strong week in Switzerland, can take satisfaction in returning to the top 100 on Monday.
