By defeating Borges, Tsitsipas joins the list of players with the longest streaks of reaching the quarterfinals in Monte-Carlo
With a dominant win over Borges (6-1, 6-1), Tsitsipas will now compete for a spot in the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000.
A fan of the Monaco tournament, the Greek player has won three of the last four editions (2021, 2022, and 2024). He follows in the footsteps of his family, as his mother, Julia Apostoli, won the junior tournament in 1981.
The 26-year-old player secures his fifth quarterfinal appearance in the Principality, achieving this feat in his last five participations. This earns him a place among the prestigious list of players with the longest streaks of reaching this stage of the competition.
The world No. 16 joins the likes of Nadal (16 consecutive times from 2005 to 2021) and Nastase (5 times from 1970 to 1974).
Tsitsipas will face Musetti this Friday.
