Casper Ruud regains confidence and ambition: "The idea is to play more aggressively and I think I'm doing pretty well".
Casper Ruud shines in 2024. After a good start to the season (16 wins from 21 matches), the arrival of clay enabled him to step up his game. Reaching the final in Monte-Carlo and then claiming the title in Barcelona, the Norwegian is impressing and climbing the rankings (6th in the world this week).
When asked about his current level of play, the two-time French Open finalist explained it mainly as a result of an effective change of game plan: "I think I've played very well over the last six or seven months. We work a lot. [...] I'm happy to see that it's paying off, that the work is paying off, because we're getting good results. I'm trying to play a little more aggressive tennis. Last year, I played too defensively. So this season, the ambition is to play more aggressively and I think I'm doing pretty well."
Beaten in the second round last year, the Norwegian could use this opportunity to score some valuable ATP points. To do so, he must not miss his first match this Saturday against Miomir Kecmanovic (ranked 66th in the world).
