Cazaux's amusing anecdote about Wawrinka after their clash in Montpellier
This Monday, in the first round of the ATP tournament in Montpellier, local player Arthur Cazaux dominated Stan Wawrinka in one of the great matches of this early tournament in the Hérault region (6-4, 6-3).
In a press conference after the match, the French player, ranked 101st in the world, shared an anecdote about his preparations for the Montpellier event.
"It was special. Stan and I were going to train together on Saturday afternoon on the centre court. We wanted to do a few points together.
The board came out 30 minutes before our training session. We saw that we were up against each other. We said to each other: 'Well then, what do we do? Do we change our plans?
In the end, we said 'No, we don't care. Monday it is, we were supposed to train today'. We did what we'd agreed, we played several sets, on center court, knowing that we'd be playing each other again two days later.
It was a lot of fun. Stan's a cool guy. I don't know him very well yet, but I did get to share a few moments with him.
He's a serious guy. I was very happy to share the court with him and to share the court with him again tomorrow in the doubles," said Cazaux.
