Change in the WTA Organizational Chart: The Body Announces the Appointment of its New President
The WTA has announced the arrival of Valerie Camillo as President starting next November 17th.
There are changes in the women's tour. WTA Chairman, Steve Simon, who has held the position since 2015, is set to retire. Consequently, the body had to consider the identity of his replacement.
Through a press release published on its website, the WTA confirmed in the last few hours the appointment of Valerie Camillo, whose candidacy was supported by Steve Simon himself.
"The WTA announced on Tuesday the appointment of Valerie Camillo to the position of President, tasked with leading the next phase of growth for women's professional tennis.
Ms. Camillo will assume her role on November 17, 2025, and will work with the WTA Board of Directors to guide and implement the organization's long-term vision and strategy at a time of enormous opportunities for players, fans, tournaments, and partners worldwide.
Camillo will lead the WTA's commitment to equality in access, standards, visibility, and compensation for female athletes, who are among the most recognized, accomplished, and admired in the world of sports.
Her appointment comes at a time when growth and opportunities are accelerating. Building on the WTA's strong foundations, Camillo will collaborate with players, tournaments, and partners from the world of sports and entertainment to enhance the athlete experience, expand the global fan base, and strengthen the commercial future of women's tennis," can be read on the WTA website, among other things.
Valerie Camillo herself reacted to her upcoming appointment, which will take place in the coming weeks: "I am honored to lead the number one women's sport at such a pivotal time. The WTA has long been a driver of progress, pushing boundaries for both athletes and fans.
