Cincinnati Masters 1000: ATP Corrects Course, Men's Final Returns to Sunday
Criticized for scheduling the Alcaraz–Sinner final on a Monday afternoon, the Cincinnati Masters 1000 is completely revising its approach. Starting in 2026, the finals will return to their traditional Sunday slot, a major change welcomed by the tournament management and the ATP and WTA tours.
The 2026 schedule will be significantly more favorable for the Cincinnati Masters 1000.
This year, the men's final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner was scheduled for a Monday in the middle of the afternoon, a choice that had drawn widespread criticism regarding the ATP calendar.
Next year, the tournament will return to a more traditional schedule, with the women's and men's finals being played on Sunday, August 23rd.
"We are convinced that a Sunday final will offer the best possible experience for the tournament.
We thank the ATP and WTA tours for collaborating with us to make this change possible, which will benefit our spectators, partners, players, and the international audience," said Bob Moran, the tournament director.
The full tournament schedule will be announced at a later date.
