Cincinnati Masters 1000: Bonzi Stages Comeback Against Arnaldi, Mpetshi Perricard and Gaston Bow Out

Several French players were in action early in the day in Cincinnati.
Arthur Rinderknech was the first French representative to advance past the first round with his victory (6-3, 6-3) over Nuno Borges.
His win was followed by Benjamin Bonzi’s three-set triumph over Matteo Arnaldi (6-7, 6-3, 6-4), the world No. 41. Bonzi had not won a Masters 1000 match since Madrid in May and now faces a tough second-round clash against Lorenzo Musetti.
For Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the Cincinnati campaign ended after just 55 minutes, as he was soundly defeated 6-3, 6-2 by world No. 168 Coleman Wong. Hugo Gaston battled hard against Roberto Carballes Baena but ultimately fell short (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) after two and a half hours of play.
Terence Atmane, who will face Yoshihito Nishioka, and Adrian Mannarino, set to take on Jordan Thompson, are the two remaining French players scheduled to compete this Thursday.
