After a 2024 season in which he didn't win a single title, Daniil Medvedev was able to recharge his batteries and take a break from tennis.

In recent weeks, his behavior at the ATP Finals in Turin stood out, suggesting that he was generally fed up with tournament after tournament.

With the Australian Open just around the corner, the Russian has decided not to play any preparatory tournaments for the first Grand Slam of the year.

And with good reason: the world's 5th-ranked player, a finalist in Melbourne last year, has confirmed some excellent news on his social networks.

His wife Daria, to whom he has been married since 2018, gave birth to their second child in the last few hours: "Happy New Year 2025", wrote the US Open 2021 winner, along with a photo showing him holding the newborn in his arms, smiling broadly.

Holger Rune was quick to react to the announcement, sending Daniil Medvedev a congratulatory message on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Before completing his preparations for the Australian Open, the Russian player has thus been able to recharge his batteries and will be able to get down to business in the coming days.
