Davidovich Fokina Agrees with Alcaraz on Two-Week Masters 1000 Events: "They Should Be Reduced to One Week"

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina spoke at a press conference ahead of the Madrid Masters 1000. The Spaniard is expected to perform well at home on a surface that suits his game.
He shared his thoughts on the two-week Masters 1000 format, which Madrid has adopted since 2023. He stated: "I agree with Carlos (Alcaraz) about the Masters 1000 tournament weeks.
They should be shortened to one week because it’s very demanding for us to be away from home for two weeks.
A month for two tournaments is quite taxing. This is an issue all players need to agree on.
If all the players said they wouldn’t participate in this tournament, we’d form a group, and what the ATP and ITF want is for us to be there. It’s tough to get all the players united on this.
They are gradually improving certain aspects, like prize money, but there’s still a lot to improve, and not just in terms of prize money. Unfortunately, the schedule has always been very tight."
For his opening match, Davidovich Fokina will face the winner of the clash between Pablo Carreño Busta and Nuno Borges.
