Davis Cup: Mathieu is wary of Belgium: "It's a very dangerous team"

France now knows what to expect in the Davis Cup quarterfinals, with a duel against Belgium that promises to be intense. Paul-Henri Mathieu highlights the danger of the opposing team, mentioning talented players like Raphaël Collignon and Zizou Bergs.
France knows its opponent in the Davis Cup quarterfinals. In Bologna, in November, the French team will face Belgium and attempt to reach the semifinals.
A team that brings back fond memories since France won its last Davis Cup trophy in 2017 against these same Belgians. After the draw, captain Paul-Henri Mathieu spoke about the future opponent of the French team.
"Belgium is a very good team, very dangerous. When you manage to beat Australia on their turf, just after the US Open, it stands as an achievement. It’s a team with character, just like ours.
While this matchup is within our reach on paper, all the matches will be difficult to claim. We have a group of players all capable of winning points in singles or doubles.
It's a faster format than the one we knew in the first two rounds, with two singles and one doubles played in one day. Anything can happen; we'll need to be extremely focused against players who are very convincing in the Davis Cup, like Raphaël Collignon, who is shining this year.
He is very talented. Zizou Bergs is also a player we are starting to know. I don’t forget David Goffin, who can certainly join this team, and the two doubles players, Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen,” assured Mathieu for L’Équipe.
