The Blues want to forget the disappointment of recent weeks. Paul-Henri Mathieu's squad, which qualified for the Final 8 of the 2025 Davis Cup in Bologna, failed to defeat Belgium in the quarter-finals.

But the French players don't have time to hesitate, as the draw for the first round of the 2026 edition's qualifiers, which start in February, has been made. France will face Slovakia at home.

France to Host Slovakia in Le Portel

Thus, on its website, the French Tennis Federation confirmed that this match will be held in Le Portel, a commune in the Pas-de-Calais, on February 7 and 8, 2026.

It is the Chaudron hall, which usually hosts matches for the ESSM Le Portel basketball team, a club in the Betclic Élite (the top tier of French professional basketball), that will host this indoor hard-court match. The venue has a capacity of 3,400 seats in a tennis configuration.

"We Can't Wait to Play in Front of the Chaudron Crowd"

Captain of the French team, Paul-Henri Mathieu is delighted with this choice: "Playing at home is always very special. I thank the mayor of Le Portel and his teams for doing everything to host this match. I know they are passionate organizers of sporting events.

They have already hosted the Billie Jean King Cup twice. We can't wait to play in front of the Chaudron crowd, who will undoubtedly be fully behind the French team at the start of this new Davis Cup campaign," he assured for the FFT.

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

Carlos Alcaraz has the New younger person to win the Australian Open and I hope he will regain French open 2026 also. As per my Guess he will be the best player to achieve the 20 Grand Slams in Younger age Only. I hope all the best to Carlos.
