De Minaur on qualifying for the ATP Finals: It's the best news I've received in a long time

Alex De Minaur will compete in the Tour Finals for the second time in his career after securing his spot by reaching the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters 1000.

Without much fanfare, De Minaur managed to fight his way into the quarter-finals of the Rolex Paris Masters. The Australian, world number 6, easily defeated Karen Khachanov (6-2, 6-2) and will face Alexander Bublik for a place in the semi-finals this Friday.

After his victory over the Russian, the 26-year-old player officially secured his place in the Tour Finals for the second consecutive season. Eliminated in the round-robin stage last year in Turin with three losses in as many matches, he will try to do better in 2024. In the meantime, De Minaur learned of his qualification after his match and claimed he did not know he had qualified until his interview for Tennis Channel.

"I wasn't aware of all that. It's the best news I've received in a long time. Of course, there's been so much talk over the last three or four weeks of the year, everyone is just talking about it.

So it definitely adds stress, even though I did my best not to pay attention to it. But I didn't know that winning today (Thursday) was enough. It's a relief, and I'm very happy to have managed to qualify for Turin," De Minaur stated.
