Despite playing only one tournament this year, Sinner will remain the Race leader after Miami
Jannik Sinner, suspended until early May for negligence, could have seen the gap between him and Alexander Zverev in the rankings gradually shrink.
Although he will lose the 1000 points from his Miami victory last year on Monday, the Italian will comfortably remain as the world No. 1 with nearly a 3000-point lead (10,330 vs. 7,645).
Taking advantage of the recent setbacks of the world No. 2, Sinner still leads the Race with the 2000 points from his Australian Open triumph—the only tournament he has played in 2025.
Zverev, who has played seven tournaments this season (including the United Cup), five of them since Sinner’s suspension, remains second in the Race with 1,665 points.
Proof that the absence of the ATP rankings leader has not been as beneficial for the German as one might have imagined.
