Dimitrov makes a successful debut
Grigor Dimitrov didn't tremble in his New York debut.
The strong man of the end of the 2023 season and the beginning of 2024, but lacking results in recent weeks, the Bulgarian is hoping to regain his confidence at Flushing Meadows.
Against the young Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet (ranked 209th in the world and a qualifier), Dimitrov gave nothing away to a Frenchman who simply wasn't strong enough (6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in 1h45).
Solid on serve (11 aces) and very aggressive in the exchange (38 winners), the world number 9 gave Jacquet a lesson in tennis, bitterly aware of what still separates him from the highest level.
