Djokovic: "My tennis wasn't at the right level to beat Alcaraz today".
Novak Djokovic was clearly dominated by Carlos Alcaraz this Sunday afternoon in the Wimbledon final (6-2, 6-2, 7-6). Far from the big battle everyone expected, he was largely outplayed by the Spaniard, particularly in the first two sets. The Serb was down-to-earth on the subject in his post-match speech.
Novak Djokovic: "Carlos was really on fire today. Obviously, it's not the result I wanted. Especially in the first two sets, my tennis wasn't good enough to compete.
But all credit to you for playing such fantastic tennis. Such all-round tennis. From the baseline, on his serve, he had it all today.
I tried to push him a little, after saving the three match points, to extend the match a little. But he absolutely deserves to be the winner today. So huge congratulations to him on an amazing tournament."
