Djokovic reflects on his performances since the Australian Open and "hopes to regain his best level in Miami"
Novak Djokovic will return to compete in the Miami Masters 1000 after a six-year absence, a tournament he has won multiple times in his career (6 times):
"I haven't played in Miami for six years. I've always loved the Sunshine Double. I've had so much success during that period, I think I completed the Sunshine Double two or three times in a row (2014-2016). I can't wait to step onto the court in front of such a warm crowd."
While the Serb is happy to return to Florida, he is aware that he is not yet at the level he would like to reach since the Australian Open:
"Let's say I'm still in a period of searching. I haven't played at my best level and I haven't even come close to it, neither in Indian Wells nor in Doha.
After withdrawing in the semifinals in Australia, I couldn't find the quality of tennis I was looking for.
I've worked hard, giving my best in training. In the end, I will find my level, I hope to do it in Miami."
"I played very well in Australia, I thought I had a good chance of winning the title. It's a shame it ended like that (withdrawal against Zverev).
However, it's encouraging to know that I'm still capable of winning against a tennis player like Alcaraz.
That's probably the main reason why I continue to push myself, to motivate myself, because I know I still have legs, hands, arms.
I still have that level of tennis that can put me in a good position to win the most important titles."
The Serb will make his debut against Rinky Hijikata in the second round.
