Jack Draper was forced to retire from his Round of 16 match against Carlos Alcaraz, mainly due to general fatigue and hip tendinitis.

As a reminder, the Briton had played five sets in his first three matches at this Australian Open, all of them lasting at least four hours.

Draper explained the pain he was feeling this Sunday on Rod Laver Arena: "My body was exhausted after the last match I played. Today, after two games, I realized that things were getting worse.

I've got tendonitis in my hip, an area I've always been prone to.

This tendinitis had started to affect my back during pre-season, and I couldn't even walk, it was very difficult.

I was amazed at how well I was able to play, I hardly had any preparation."
