Dubrov, Sabalenka's coach ahead of a possible Australian Open hat-trick: "This is the kind of thing we'll be talking about at the end of her career".
Tomorrow, Aryna Sabalenka will attempt to win her third consecutive Australian Open against Madison Keys in the final.
Unbeaten in Melbourne since 2023, the world No.1 would join a number of great names in women's tennis who have won the tournament three years in a row: Margaret Court twice in the 60s and 70s, Evonne Goolagong (1974-1976), Steffi Graf (1988-1990), Monica Seles (1991-1993) and Martina Hingis (1997-1999).
But Sabalenka's coach, Anton Dubrov, wants to remain measured before potentially making tennis history:
"Of course she knows that. All these statistics are good, they're great, but they're the kind of thing we'll be talking about at the end of her career.
That comes with goals and results. You don't come in and say 'Okay, I want to win 10 or 12 Grand Slams'. These are things for you journalists.
We talked about it with Aryna. But the only thing we control is her development as a player."
