End of Season for Fils: The Frenchman Withdraws from the Paris Masters 1000

Still suffering from a back injury, Arthur Fils is not fit to play in Paris and has ended his season.

Absent from the ATP Tour since early August and the Toronto Masters 1000, Arthur Fils is still recovering after suffering a stress fracture in his back during Roland Garros.

Since his defeat to Jiri Lehecka in the third round in Canada, the 21-year-old player has not played a single competitive match since, withdrawing from Wimbledon, the US Open, as well as the Masters 1000 events in Cincinnati and Shanghai.

In recent days, Fils had also withdrawn from the ATP 500 tournament in Basel, but the Frenchman's ordeal is not over. While he had hoped to be able to compete in the Paris Masters 1000, the world number 30 will still not be physically ready and has been forced to withdraw, which also brings his season to an end.

Fils is the sixth player to withdraw from this first edition of the Rolex Paris Masters at La Défense after Novak Djokovic, Jack Draper, Holger Rune, Frances Tiafoe, and Gaël Monfils. His withdrawal benefits Daniel Altmaier, who enters the main draw.
