Eugénie Bouchard shows no mercy to Swiatek after her positive test
Iga Swiatek's positive test for trimetazidine is still causing a stir.
The Pole, who has accepted a one-month suspension, has been supported by Naomi Osaka, but most of the tennis world cannot understand the way in which the world number 2's case has been handled.
On Friday, Nick Kyrgios posted a tweet on his X account (formerly Twitter).
"The excuse we can all use is that we didn't know. We simply didn't know. Top athletes can now just say 'We didn't know'," he wrote.
Eugenie Bouchard, a former Wimbledon finalist in 2014, agrees with the Australian.
Responding to the statement ironically listed by Kyrgios, the Canadian quoted the latter's tweet with the message, "I guess so."
In 2017, a year after the announcement of Maria Sharapova's positive meldonium test, Bouchard called the Russian player a cheat at the time and took a clear stance in favor of a lifetime suspension.
The former world number 1 was eventually suspended for fifteen months.
