"Everyone will be against us, but we are ready": Ferrer discusses Spain's chances in the Davis Cup final
Without Carlos Alcaraz, Spain still managed to reach the Davis Cup final.
Valiant, David Ferrer's men pulled through twice this week in the decisive doubles, carried by the great understanding between Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez.
Tomorrow, the Spanish team will face the competition favorite, Italy. The Squadra Azzurra, winner of the last two editions, will benefit from the strong support of the Bologna crowd.
In a press conference, Ferrer discussed the challenge awaiting his players for this great final:
"It's something we managed in the past in Mar del Plata (2008 Davis Cup final, Spain won 3-1 against Argentina). We were away, everyone was against us and we managed to win.
Why not again this time? It's a great challenge for the players, a great opportunity. I don't see it as something negative, on the contrary, it's positive.
Playing with the crowd against you, with that atmosphere... I can't enjoy it as a player anymore, but I will experience it as a captain. There will be difficult moments, but they are ready to face them. We will have our chances, without a doubt."
