Federer to be inducted into Tennis Hall of Fame: 'A tremendous honor' for the Swiss legend
In 2026, Roger Federer will further cement his legend. The former world No. 1, winner of 20 Grand Slams, will officially become part of the Tennis Hall of Fame during a ceremony to be held next August in Newport.
The Swiss player, winner of 103 ATP tour titles, reacted to this news in a statement:
"It is a tremendous honor to be inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame and to find myself alongside so many great champions. To be recognized in this way by the sport and by my peers is a profound honor.
Throughout my career, I have always placed great importance on the history of tennis and the example set by those who came before me. I look forward to going to Newport next August to celebrate this special moment with the tennis community."
Juan Martin del Potro and Svetlana Kuznetsova, also in the running to enter the Hall of Fame next year, did not reach the required threshold of 75% of the votes.
