Ferrer on Nadal's selection: "I'm very excited to have Rafa".
It's not totally a surprise, but it's still quite a piece of information.
Even if David Ferrer had hinted at it, Rafael Nadal's selection for the Davis Cup finals in November was anything but a foregone conclusion.
When asked about the apparent confirmation of his compatriot and friend's presence, Ferrer, captain of the Spanish national team, declared: "I'm very excited to have Rafa and I'm very proud of this team and what has been achieved so far.
I hope we can bring great joy to Malaga. There are still two months to go, but Rafa's plan is to be in Saudi Arabia, and he's preparing for that.
He's already training on court and that's important. It's possible that he'll play something else, but from now on his program is to play the exhibition, in which he'll have to be well prepared, because the level will be very high.
If Rafa tells me he wants to be in Malaga, I know he'll be competitive, because he's an honest person."
