Fissette, Swiatek's coach: "A clear change in mindset"
Iga Swiatek's coach, Wim Fissette, spoke about his player's 2025 season, in comments reported by The Tennis Gazette.
For him, the success comes in particular from this first title at Wimbledon: "Well, first of all, 2025 will remain a historic year for Iga. Her victory at Wimbledon, to everyone's surprise, and the way she achieved it.
"A fantastic year"
It's something we will look back on in 10, 20, 30 years. It was simply incredible. Just for that performance, 2025 was a fantastic year.
One of my goals at the beginning was to play better on fast surfaces and to be more comfortable. It's a goal we have clearly achieved.
You saw the result in Cincinnati as well, and it's something Iga will remember in the years to come.
"Continue this momentum in 2026"
She can tell herself: 'No matter the surface, whether it's slow or fast, I am in contention for the title. I know I am capable. I need to make a few adjustments, but I can do it.'
I think we went through several phases this year where I noticed, in the middle of the year, and it was before Wimbledon, a clear change in mindset. So I think we made a positive mental shift. We of course hope to continue this momentum in 2026."
