Fonseca reflects on his victory over Fils: "Arthur knows what I'm capable of".

Le 19/12/2024 à 09h24 par Adrien Guyot
Fonseca reflects on his victory over Fils: Arthur knows what I'm capable of.

On the first day of the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah, João Fonseca won a bout against Arthur Fils.

The 18-year-old Brazilian beat the Frenchman for the second time this season to kick off his Next Gen Masters campaign in the best possible way (3-4, 4-2, 4-1, 1-4, 4-1).

After his triumph on his debut and before facing Learner Tien on Thursday, the world No. 145 looked back on his victory for the ATP website.

"It was a good match. I knew it would be tough from the first point.

But I also knew that my victory over him in Rio was going to be something important to take into account, because Arthur knows what I'm capable of.

I think I played better in the important moments. I got on the ball and played aggressively, as I always do. In my opinion, that's what made the difference today."
