For his last in Metz, Gasquet makes it through the 1st round
Facing Thiago Monteiro in what could have been his last match in Metz, Richard Gasquet battled for almost two and a half hours to come through in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 7-6).
Moselle Open spectators will have the chance to see Richard Gasquet's backhand in action for at least one more match.
The Biterrois honored his wild-card status with a hard-fought victory over Monteiro, and even saved a match point in the decisive tie-break.
It was his first victory on the main circuit since May. He will face Alex Michelsen for a place in the quarter-finals.
