Humbert won't be defending his title in Metz

Humbert won't be defending his title in Metz

Ugo Humbert has called it a day.

The French No. 1, who has enjoyed a fine but extremely long season, has finally decided to skip the ATP 250 Metz tournament, despite being the defending champion.

A magnificent finalist at Paris-Bercy, the Tricolore simply couldn't take it any more. Playing on anti-inflammatories for part of the Paris tournament, Humbert just didn't have the energy to play in Metz.

Given his week in Paris and his repeated criticisms of the schedule, this decision is hardly surprising.
