Following his Masters final loss to Jannik Sinner (6-4, 6-4), Taylor Fritz was asked about Rafael Nadal's retirement and the impact he will have had on players of his generation: "I feel like I see a lot of left-handers trying to play like Nadal.
If I were left-handed, I'd try to play like him too. It's probably better that I'm not left-handed, because it wouldn't do any good if I tried that.
I think that as far as people trying to imitate his game is concerned, I have the impression that there are so many left-handers who regard Rafa as the reference.
Even when I was a kid, I'd go out on court and pretend I was playing in the French Open. He had a huge impact on my generation, because we all grew up watching him and Federer play."
