Fritz wishes Rinderknech a "safe flight home".
Taylor Fritz obviously didn't take kindly to Arthur Rinderknech's statement prior to their Wimbledon 2nd round clash. During their previous match, played at Roland-Garros in 2023 on Court Suzanne Lenglen, Fritz had not appreciated the overly biased attitude of the spectators.
In reference to which the Frenchman declared on Wednesday: "The atmosphere will be calmer and he'll cry a little less this time, I think". Legitimately offended, the American did not fail to respond, soberly, after his victory over Rinderknech (6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4).
Taylor Fritz: "I'm a very calm person. I don't do anything that might upset other people, so when someone goes a bit too far, I don't let it go. It gave me extra energy to win. When we shook hands, I told him 'have a safe flight home'."
