Tournaments come and go for Caroline Garcia.
After a very disappointing 2024 season in which she won very little, the Frenchwoman has once again fallen back into her old ways.
Facing Jaqueline Cristian, ranked 61st in the world, Garcia once again opted for an extremely offensive game plan, even if it meant making a lot of mistakes (54).
Despite a hard-fought first set, the world No. 25 gave away far too much and eventually lost in 3 sets and 2 hours and 35 minutes (5-7, 6-3, 6-4).
For the French delegation, this is already a major blow, as the French No.1 and only French seed in the women's draw is already out of the running.
