Garcia gives an update: "I sometimes have doubts".
Caroline Garcia is preparing for her return to competition. After putting an end to her 2024 season in September, the Frenchwoman opened up about her impressions in an interview with L'Équipe.
Rather smiling, Garcia, who is preparing for her comeback at the Australian Open in January, declared: "I spent a month and a half without training. Well, I quickly got into a lot of sport, going to the gym to do strength training and bars, but it was a choice. I also rediscovered leisure tennis by playing with my partner Borja (Duran, her fiancé).
Focusing on the game, rather than the competition, helped me understand why I loved tennis. I also signed up via the WTA for a four- or five-month crossover with Harvard University (USA). You have cases to study, like LeBron James and his marketing agency or Roger Federer and the Laver Cup, you can attend online courses... I'd never taken the time to open myself up to other things, to get out of my comfort zone.
Sometimes I have doubts, I don't know if I'm going to be competitive. I don't expect my return tournament to go as well as training did in terms of my state of mind. I'm not sure I'll be able to laugh after a big volley (smile).
