Gasquet Falls to Sinner and Bids Farewell to Roland Garros

After facing Atmane in the first round, Gasquet took on world No. 1 Sinner on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Despite a strong performance in the first and final sets, Gasquet was understandably outclassed by the Italian in straight sets (6-3, 6-0, 6-4), marking his final Roland Garros appearance and the last match of his career.
After 23 years at the highest level and 1,018 matches, the Frenchman is closing the chapter on his professional playing career. The Béziers native won 16 titles on the tour and peaked at a career-high ranking of No. 7. The "Mozart of Tennis" also spent four seasons in the top 10, reached three Grand Slam semifinals, and secured over 600 career wins.
As for Sinner, he will face Czech player Lehečka for a spot in the round of 16.
