Gasquet ready to savour his last appearance in Montpellier: "It was important to play him one last time".

At the age of 38, Richard Gasquet will retire in a few months at Roland-Garros.

But before he bids farewell to the French public for good, the Biterrois will be playing in the tournaments that are dear to him, such as the ATP 250 in Montpellier, which he has won three times (2013, 2015 and 2016).

Ahead of his 1st round match against Adrian Mannarino, he spoke at a press conference:

"There were two or three important tournaments for me this year. Inevitably, there's Roland-Garros, and then Marseille and Montpellier even more so.

I've often won it, it's my region, so it was obviously important to play it one last time. I'm delighted, and I'm going to do my utmost to try and play well.

I'm injury-free, so I can play at 100%. It's not the first time I've played a Frenchman here. It's always special, but that's the way it is."
