Gauff beats Paolini and gets back on track at the WTA Finals
Coco Gauff had gotten off to a very poor start at the WTA Finals, losing to Jessica Pegula in a match marked by 17 double faults on her part.
This Tuesday, the American was determined to redeem herself after working on her serve in training. Facing Jasmine Paolini, she won 6-3, 6-2, with only 3 double faults and just one break conceded.
Interviewed on court after her victory, she said: "I have participated in the WTA Finals where I lost all three of my matches. I was determined not to repeat that experience. I knew today's win was important to stay in the tournament. If I had lost, I would have been eliminated."
She will face Aryna Sabalenka this Thursday for the final day of the group stages.
