Gauff Ends Boisson's Run at Roland Garros
Gauff faced Boisson in the Roland Garros semifinals. The two players had never met on the tour before.
The American delivered a near-perfect first set, moving swiftly and dominating from the baseline—Gauff took control (6-1). The Frenchwoman appeared physically drained, having battled hard in her previous rounds.
In the second set, despite a brief resurgence, the challenge proved too great for Boisson today. At 5-2 during the changeover, the young French player let her frustration show. Gauff sealed the victory in 1 hour and 9 minutes (6-1, 6-2) to advance to the final at Porte d’Auteuil.
Invited by the tournament organizers, Boisson had fought her way through a grueling path to reach the semifinals, eliminating three seeded players—including two top-10 opponents: Pegula and Andreeva. Ranked 361st in the world upon arriving in Paris, she will climb to 65th and become France’s top-ranked player after the tournament.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old American has secured her third Grand Slam final. After winning the US Open in 2023, she was a finalist at Porte d’Auteuil in 2022. She will face world No. 1 Sabalenka in the final, who defeated defending champion Swiatek.
