Gauff wins Wuhan tournament by defeating Pegula and closes in on Swiatek in WTA rankings

The final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan featured Coco Gauff against Jessica Pegula. Although Gauff was the favorite, her compatriot made her work hard for the victory.
The first set began with an early break from Gauff, but Pegula managed to catch up in the 7th game.
Gauff secured the first set with a break on Pegula's serve at 5-4. However, the world number 6 didn't give up and quickly took control in the second set, achieving a double break.
However, she quickly lost this advantage and saw Gauff come back into the match. Pegula then managed to break her opponent and serve for the set.
But she ultimately collapsed and saw the last four games of the match slip away, losing with a score of 6-4, 7-5.
Thanks to this final appearance, Pegula will move up one spot in the WTA rankings, placing 5th. Gauff will remain 3rd but closes in on Iga Swiatek, who will hold an 895-point lead.
