Gilles Cervara Bounces Back: Medvedev's Former Coach Joins Young Nishesh Basavareddy's Team!
Three months after ending his long-term collaboration with Daniil Medvedev, Gilles Cervara will return to the ATP Tour in 2026.
The 44-year-old French coach has decided to become the coach of Nishesh Basavareddy, ranked 167th in the world. The young American (20 years old) made a breakthrough earlier in the season by reaching the semifinals in Auckland, before taking a set off Novak Djokovic in the first round of the Australian Open.
"I am excited about this project"
In comments reported by L'Équipe, Cervara shared his initial feelings on this new collaboration:
"I am excited about this project with a player and a healthy environment, who wants to build things after long months without structure.
He is a young player who is not confined to the United States and wants to work with a French coach. It's a great adventure. There are quite a few things to achieve in relation to my coaching profile."
Basavareddy will likely be accompanied by his new coach at the Next Gen ATP Finals, held in Jeddah from December 17 to 21.
