Following his defeat in the Masters 1000 semifinal, the Russian highlights his opponent's quality and analyzes his own performance. A demanding but encouraging Asian tour that could relaunch him for this end of the season.

A successful Asian tour for Daniil Medvedev? Although he didn't win a title or even reach a final, the Russian can be satisfied with his month spent in China, having reached the quarterfinals in Hangzhou and then the semifinals in Beijing and Shanghai.

Enough to restart a positive spiral for the former world No. 1, now accompanied by his new coach Thomas Johansson. For the Russian media Bolshe!, Medvedev opened up about his loss to Arthur Rinderknech on Saturday, before assessing his performance in Shanghai:

"It's a shame. There was really only one game in the second set where I could have played a bit better. Overall, he served well. I had to guess where his serve was going to land and unfortunately I wasn't good at that game.

It's a shame, but we can't change the match result. He deserves to be in the final, he played a good match. I could have played better at certain moments but it didn't work out. [...]

I mainly feel fatigue. It was a very physically difficult tournament with these weather conditions. I'll have a few days to recover. It's still a successful tournament. I can do much better, but it's already better than before.
