He had a slight discomfort in the abdomen," Vagnozzi provides an update on Sinner's health condition

During his semifinal match against Auger-Aliassime at the US Open, Sinner appeared to be suffering from abdominal issues towards the end of the second set. A situation deemed concerning by some but downplayed by the Italian's coach, Simone Vagnozzi, in an interview shared by SuperTennis:
"He had a slight discomfort in the abdomen, but after treatment with the physiotherapist, it went away. When he came back, during the first few games, he wasn't really sure how he would feel and didn't want to push too hard. Then he started to push, and his serve kept getting better and better.
So, I think he's calm for Sunday. Sometimes, you're tired and you don't need to show it to your opponent. In the second set, his energy dropped a bit; if the opponent senses it, they can take advantage. You have to know how to mask emotions and physical difficulties."
Regarding the match's progression, the 42-year-old highlighted his pupil's tactical adaptation to overcome the Canadian (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4):
"Before, he only played to his strengths; now he can also work on the opponent's weaknesses. The ball moves very fast, it's hard to vary, but we're always looking for solutions: tonight, for example, more high balls to Auger-Aliassime's backhand, trying to open up the court more."
Finally, the Italian concluded by discussing the upcoming duel against Alcaraz, the third Grand Slam final between them this season:
"It will be a very complicated match; Carlos will try to do something different from the Wimbledon final, and we have to prepare for that. It will be important to work on certain tactical details. Then, you just have to go out and play, enjoy it, and play without pressure.
