Withdrawn from the Paris Masters 1000, Novak Djokovic has, however, planned to play the Athens tournament at the end of this season.
Uncertainty has taken hold of Djokovic's fans' minds at the end of this season. Beaten in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters 1000 by Valentin Vacherot, the 38-year-old Serbian subsequently withdrew from the Paris Masters 1000, a tournament he has won seven times in his career.
The world No. 5, qualified for the ATP Finals, does not yet know if he will play in the tournament, having already skipped the Masters last year. Nevertheless, Djokovic, who retired during his match against Taylor Fritz at the Six Kings Slam last week, is still entered in one tournament this year and is expected to participate in the ATP 250 in Athens from November 2nd to 8th.
At least, that was the initial plan. Because Novak Djokovic's brother, Djordje, who is the tournament director in the Greek capital, has given an update on the Serbian champion in recent hours.
"Novak is in a recovery phase. He is an expert in the field of rehabilitation. He is doing everything possible to be ready and able to participate in the Athens tournament, in front of the Greek public," Djordje Djokovic assured in recent hours, according to comments reported by Tennis World USA.
