"He was very lucky to still be on the court," Stubbs reflects on the Musetti incident
Qualified for the semifinals at Roland-Garros, Musetti made headlines for an action that could have cost him dearly. Facing Tiafoe, the Italian let his frustration show by unintentionally hitting a ball that struck a line judge. Though he apologized immediately, the world No. 7 can consider himself fortunate not to have been disqualified, according to former player Rennae Stubbs:
"Lorenzo was very lucky to still be on the court. You can’t hit a ball and strike a line judge without getting disqualified. I know he didn’t mean to hit her, but it was still a very bad move. He took such a big risk," she stated on her X account.
Musetti only received a warning and went on to defeat the American. He will now face defending champion Alcaraz for a spot in the final.
