Henry Bernet, supported by Federer's former coach, in the final of the Junior Australian Open.
Could it be that Switzerland has a new tennis hope? Henry Bernet, 17, caused a sensation this week in Melbourne by reaching the final of the junior tournament.
After beating world junior No.1 Jan Kumstat (7-6, 7-6) in the quarter-finals and Finland's Oskari Paldanius (7-6, 6-2) in the semi-finals, Bernet will face American Benjamin Willwerth in tomorrow's final.
But beyond his results, the young Swiss player has also made a name for himself by recently recruiting Severin Lüthi, Roger Federer's former coach for fifteen years (between 2007 and 2022), to his team.
And he has also signed a five-year contract with Swiss equipment manufacturer On, which already sponsors several stars on the professional circuit, including world No. 2 Iga Swiatek and Melbourne semi-finalist Ben Shelton.
A brand that links him indirectly to Roger Federer, since the former world No. 1 represents it as ambassador and shareholder.
The final between Bernet and Willwerth will be played on the Rod Laver Arena at 12pm local time (2am in France).
