“Holger Was Really Scared”: Rune Stranded in Doha After Iranian Strikes
After the launch of Iranian missiles on Doha, Qatar's capital, Holger Rune finds himself currently stuck in the Middle East.
The Dane had been undergoing Achilles tendon rehab for several days in the Qatari city when the explosions rang out. With his team, he was planning to fly to Los Angeles this Sunday morning.
But with his flight canceled, Rune is forced to wait in his hotel room. His mother, Aneke, spoke about it to TV2.
“Holger was really scared”
“It was a completely crazy night. We didn't sleep much. Everything seems more brutal at night, with fireballs in the sky and repeated detonations. We spent quite a bit of time at reception, where they were adorable, then we finally went back up to our rooms to sleep.
But Holger was really scared last night. Naturally, we're overwhelmed by news and terrible images of attacks all around us. Our flight was of course canceled today and, for now, we have no idea when we can leave.”
