Humbert, Ruud, Fonseca-Shapovalov: Friday, October 24th schedule in Basel

Humbert, Ruud, Fonseca-Shapovalov: Friday, October 24th schedule in Basel

The quarter-finals of the Basel tournament will take place this Friday in the Swiss city.

The schedule promises to be packed this Friday, the day of the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 tournament in Basel. Starting at 2:00 PM, the first match will pit Félix Auger-Aliassime, last week's winner of the Brussels tournament, against Jaume Munar, who defeated Ben Shelton in the previous round.

The two men have not faced each other on the main tour since the 2019 Rio tournament, when the Canadian won in straight sets in the quarter-finals (6-4, 6-3).

The second match of the day will feature João Fonseca against Denis Shapovalov. The two men have not yet faced each other on the main tour. The Brazilian will arrive physically fresh as he benefited from Jakub Mensik's withdrawal in the previous round after eliminating the defending champion Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round, while the Canadian eliminated Marcos Giron and Valentin Royer in the two previous matches.

In the late afternoon, starting at 6:00 PM, Ugo Humbert and Reilly Opelka, who were initially scheduled to close the program, will be on court. The Frenchman will play against a third American, after having already eliminated Sebastian Korda and Taylor Fritz.

Finally, in the evening, Casper Ruud will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The Norwegian leads the head-to-head by a narrow margin (3 wins to 2), although they have not faced each other since Roland-Garros 2024.
