Hurkacz changes coach after several disappointments
Beaten in the 2nd round of the US Open on Thursday, Hubert Hurkacz was quick to learn his lesson and make some consequential decisions. The Pole announced on Friday that he was parting company with his coach Craig Boynton.
At the start of their collaboration in March 2019, Hurkacz was 22 years old and had never before broken into the Top 50 of the ATP rankings. Under the American, he had reached world No. 6, won two Masters 1000 titles in Shanghai (2023) and Miami (2021), and reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon (2021). But in recent months, his progress has fallen short of expectations.
Hubert Hurkacz: "It's been a unique journey. I'm very grateful for everything we've achieved as a team. Thank you Craig."
