Hurkacz injured, Fils through to 3rd round at Wimbledon!
After generally dominating the proceedings, Arthur Fils benefited from Hubert Hurkacz's withdrawal to advance to the second round of this 2024 edition of Wimbledon (7-6, 6-4, 2-6, 6-6). The Pole injured his right knee in the tie-break of the 4th set and retired on match point for the Frenchman, who was leading 9-8.
Fils thus qualifies for the 3rd round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. He will face Roman Safiullin or Tomas Machac on Saturday.
